The Riekerpolder is a polder in the municipality of Amsterdam, district of Nieuw-West (before 1921 municipality of Sloten), north of the Nieuwe Meer. The Riekerpolder is a continuation of the Rietwijkerpolder and the Bovenwegse Sloterpolder (or Sloterbuitenpolder) and was created in 1636 when the area between the Sloterweg and the Nieuwe Meer was diked and drained with a polder mill, the Riekermolen. The polder is part of a peat meadow area that was part of the Hollands-Utrecht peat area. The pastureland thus created remained intact for centuries.
